Vision Statement
Asbury Temple United Methodist Church is called by God to make disciples
of Jesus Christ by offering hope, healing and hospitality to Northeast
Central Durham and beyond.

Hope - At Asbury Temple
United Methodist Church, we offer
hope primarily through our exciting
and uplifting worship services where
the Good News is proclaimed with
power. We are not ashamed of the
gospel for we believe it is the
power of God for salvation for everyone
who has faith (Romans 1:16a). Kerygma,
or God's power experienced in the
proclamation of the gospel, challenges
us to have our lives transformed
by the Holy Spirit so that we may
be conformed to the image of Christ
Jesus our Lord.

Healing - At
Asbury Temple United Methodist Church,
we experience healing primarily
through Koinonia, or small
fellowship groups that constitute
a community which seeks to know
and express God's love and forgiveness.

| Hospitality - We
open our hearts, doors and minds
to embrace and serve our community
primarily through the creation of
space for others to enter and become
friends instead of strangers or
enemies. We practice hospitality
in a spirit of service and as a
way of life, for it is by serving,
or Diakonia, we reach out
and minister to those in need and
become a reconciling force among
humankind |
